Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program

8-Week Course Begins Wednesday June 20th thru August 15th  7:00pm - 9:30pm
One Daylong Session: Saturday August 4th  9:45am - 5:00pm
*No Class Wednesday July 4th.

Location: 2041 Larkin Street (between Vallejo & Broadway) on Russian Hill

Increase your ability to cope with stressful situations, anxiety and improve self-esteem.

“Bringing awareness, thoughts, emotions and our nervous system into alignment.”

The course is designed around the methods by taught Jon Kabat-Zinn and Rik Center’s mindfulness and trauma background, his work and training. Participants will be learning mind/body awareness techniques and gaining tools that allow for more ease in dealing with daily stress, anxieties, physical ailments and emotional symptoms due to unresolved trauma and/or illness.

Areas of difficulty we may notice:

Depression, Irritability, Worry/Grief , Panic, Chronic Pain, Stress, Frustration, Burn-out, Anxiousness, Headaches/Migraines, Fatigue, High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Psoriasis, Job and/or Family Stress, Fibromyalgia, Sleep Disturbances, inability to deal with illness and other constant stressors.

Participants of the program report an increased ability to cope with stressful situations and less anxious.

Course Content: Experiential exercises, group discussions and somatic mindful awareness teachings. Participants learn about habituated reactions to stress related anxieties and how to change their response. The MBSR/Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course was featured on the Bill Moyers’ special, “Healing And The Mind.”

Course Fee: $400.00 + 50.00 for class materials; Includes workbook, two mindfulness meditations to practice with and copy of the book “Full Catastrophe Living” by Jon Kabat-Zinn.  Full and partial Scholarships available for approved applicants.

Facilitator: Rik Center Cofounder of the MCC/Mindfulness Care Center.  Rik is a Mindfulness Meditation Teacher, SE/Somatic Experiencing Stress and Trauma Counselor/Practitioner, plus he has served as a Buddhist/Interfaith Chaplain at San Francisco General and CPMC Hospitals. He facilitates and leads a variety of mindfulness classes based around embodied practices of healing stress, unresolved anxieties, grief and loss.  Rik has a private practice working one-on-one with his clients that focuses on healing high levels of unresolved traumatic anxiety and PTSD along with offering grief and spiritual counseling.  He began his meditation practice in the late 80’s and has sat over 365 days in Meditation Retreats. He's connected to Abhayagiri a “Theravada Thai Forest Monastery” in Redwood Valley practicing in the Ajahn Chah Lineage with his spiritual friends and teacher Ajahn Pasanno. Rik leads a weekly ongoing Tuesday Evening Meditation Class. Rik sits on the Professional Advisory Group for Spiritual Care at the CPMC/Sutter Health Hospitals in San Francisco. He is a member of the USABP/United States Association Of Body Psychotherapy.

Refund/Cancellation Policy:The MCC/Mindfulness Care Center must receive refund request and cancellation 4-days prior prior to the beginning of the course/program for the entire program fee to be refunded. There is a $50 non-refundable fee if registration is cancelled after 4 days prior to the class beginning. Program fee is non-refundable if the program is dropped after the 2nd week of class. If the class is dropped within the 2nd week, refunds are prorated by week along with a $50 non-refundable fee.

The MCC/Mindfulness Care Center is a 501(3)(c) charitable organization.

Information For Continuing Education Units/ CEU’s:
The MCC/Mindfulness Care Center is approved by CAMFT/California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for the MBSR/Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program. The MCC/Mindfulness Care Center maintains responsibility for the this program/course and its content.
This Course meets the qualifications for 24 hours of continuing education credit for licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC), and Licensed Educational Psychologists (LEP) as required by CAMFT/California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

Mindfulness Care Center Provider #128625. There is a $30 Certificate Fee required. Course must be fully completed in-order to receive full CEU credits. CEU Certificates will be awarded after completion of the aforementioned program. Upon verification of program completion, certificate will be presented or emailed to recipient.
Any grievance of attendee seeking accreditation must be received in writing and MCC will respond within a reasonable, ethical and timely manner.
