Unwinding The Body of Stress & Traumatic Anxiety Program

"A Mindful-Somatic approach towards releasing unresolved stress and traumatic anxieties."

6-Week Program: Wednesdays, January 31st - March 7th  7:00pm - 9:30pm

One daylong session: Saturday, March 3rd  10:00am - 5:00pm

This 6-Week Program offers a unique approach to trauma resolution and release around the loss of self and our sense of boundaries. Participants will learn how to make the choice to be a reactive participant or creative partner in life.

Deep wounding and it’s attached fears can effect our well-being in both our emotional and physical health. We may often not feel safe and/or have fears of being over attached or under attached to others and the subsequent belief systems that can arise when the nervous system and physiology of our body has been disrupted and dysregulated.

Mindfulness is the doorway to working with a body & mind that has feelings and sensations that we’ve often avoided and yet by avoiding oneself there is no way we can feel whole. We might often feel that we are living a distance away from ourselves. Compassion, acceptance and self-care are vital qualities we can learn to inhabit in our journey towards health and positive relationships.

Being mindfully-aware of the present moment is one of the key first steps in beginning to resolve and unravel the emotional body of trauma.

Our lives are a string of experiences that arise from “little incidents” to “large painful unresolved experiences” that often continue to produce stress responses that no longer serve us in our present day-to-day life.

Self awareness and compassion are key factors in enabling the mind in becoming present to the subtle energies of fear, sadness, frustration, and anger.

Mindful awareness combined with compassion for our past experiences develops the potential to stay present with the felt sense of highly charged energies. Being mindful of our experiential body is the first necessary step in beginning to resolve and unravel the emotional body of anxiousness and unwarranted stress patterns that have come out of dysfunctional dynamics and/or traumatic experiences.

Each week we will be working with a theme in helping us to unwind habituated unwanted patterns of uneasiness.

We look to support participants in learning to identify and gain new tools, skills and insight in dissolving dysfunctional physical/emotional anxieties that often overtake our lives. When we create new skills that offer us new choices in how to respond to thoughts, emotions and others, we are bringing into our lives a deeper sense of self-compassion and kindness.

Course Fee: $270.00 plus $30 materials, total $300.

Materials include MCC Workbook and 2 meditations to practice with.

*Partial and full scholarships are available to qualified applicants.

Facilitator:

Rik Center is Cofounder of the MCC/Mindfulness Care Center. He's a trained and Certified SE/Somatic Experiencing Stress and Trauma Counselor/Practitioner and Mindfulness Meditation Teacher utilizing embodied practices in the healing process. He’s assisted SE/Somatic Experiencing trainings and traveled to New Orleans and Baton Rouge after Hurricane Katrina in support with others around SE in supporting trainings and to offer sessions to those still affected by the aftermath of the hurricanes. Rik has a private practice working one-on-one with clients that focuses on healing high levels of stress, unresolved traumatic anxiety and PTSD along with offering grief and spiritual counseling.

Rik began a Buddhist mindful meditation practice in the late 80’s and leads the ongoing MCC Tuesday Evening Mediation Group. Rik has served as a Buddhist/Interfaith Chaplain at San Francisco General Hospital and CPMC Hospitals. He presently sits on the Professional Advisory Group for Spiritual Care at the CPMC/Sutter Health Hospitals in San Francisco. Rik is a member of the USABP/United States Association Of Body Psychotherapy.


Refund/Cancellation Policy: The MCC/Mindfulness Care Center must receive refund request and cancellation 4-days prior prior to the beginning of the course/program for the entire program fee to be refunded. There is a $50 non-refundable fee if registration is cancelled after 4 days prior to the class beginning. Program fee is non-refundable if the program is dropped after the 2nd week of class. If the class is dropped within the 2nd week, refunds are prorated by week along with a $50 non-refundable fee.

The MCC/Mindfulness Care Center is a 501(3)(c) charitable organization.

Information For Continuing Education Units/ CEU’s:

The MCC/Mindfulness Care Center is approved by CAMFT/California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for the MBSR/Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program. The MCC/Mindfulness Care Center maintains responsibility for the this program/course and its content.

This Course meets the qualifications for 18 hours of continuing education credit for licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC), and Licensed Educational Psychologists (LEP) as required by CAMFT/California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

Mindfulness Care Center Provider #128625. There is a $30 Certificate Fee required. Course must be fully completed in-order to receive full CEU credits. CEU Certificates will be awarded after completion of the aforementioned program. Upon verification of program completion, certificate will be presented or emailed to recipient.

Any grievance of attendee seeking accreditation must be received in writing and MCC will respond within a reasonable, ethical and timely manner.
